Pygmy Gourami (Trichopsis pumila) AKA Sparking Gourami 

Found in the lower Mekong River basin in Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand, as well as watersheds across central and southern peninsular Thailand. Prefers an environment with low lighting and slow moving waters a heavily planted environment with real wood and big rocks. Make sure you include caves and form other hides so they will feel at ease. They also benefit greatly from tannins. Do not have a high water line and ensure you have a proper lid. They breathe the humid air and they are also great jumpers. An omnivorous labyrinth fish. Unlike other types of Gourami, Pygmy thrive in groups. The are an active and eye catching fish. They have been known to eat small shrimp like Caridina sp. as well as Neocaridina sp., we advise that you do not try to house them together.
