Malaysian Trumpet Snail (Melanoides tuberculata) AKA Malaysian Burrowing Snail, Malaysian Live Bearing Snail, Malaysian Sail, Red-Rimmed MelaniaNative to South East Asia as well as Northern and Southern Africa but have been introduced to tropical regions all over the world. Can live in fresh and brackish water. Prolific livebearers, babies are tiny versions of their parents. They burrow into the substrate during the day and emerge when the lights are out to eat algae, detritus, fallen tankmates and uneaten food. Sand or fine substrate is recommended. Many people view them as pests but they can be very beneficial because they help prevent harmful gas from building up within your substrate. They breed quickly, you will have to keep an eye out for over population. They make great feeder snails for loaches. DO NOT FEED TO PUFFERFISH. MTS have a very hard, thick shell and it can damage a puffers beak making it so the can’t eat.  A very peaceful, omnivorous snail. Calcium is crucial for optimal shell health, calcium supplements are recommended (Cuttlebone, eggshells, slow release calcium block, Snello, tums). Care Level: Easy Min.
